G'day,

I was the HS Field Rep based at Qantas from 1981 to 1989 and during that period a number of Qantas JFC technicians were sent to HS for training on the JFC 68. I retired to Sydney in 2002 and have kept in touch with the guys at Qantas I worked with. Times have changed and Qantas has decided to shut down the Component Overhaul Shop at Mascot and this past Friday they had a farewell luncheon which i attended. There wasn't a lot of guys from the 1980's there but every one of them that was there that had gone for training asked me how Ray was. It was sad to have to tell them that he had passed away but it felt good knowing that these guys still rememberd him as i will! He was one of the best service engineers we had and had a talent to explain how to fix a problem with the 68 in terms that even I could understand! He was, as we say Downunder, fair dinkum!

G'day, I was a HS Field Rep and worked with Ray from 1978 through 2001 when I retired. He helped me immensely supporting the JFC 68 when I was based at Qantas and Singapore Airlines in the 1980's. To the Lingenfelter family, I met Ray while working at NWA in the fuel metering shop. What a special human being. He was always kind and caring and had a way about him that let you know he really cared. It was obvious that he loved his family, friends and his work. I feel very privileged and lucky to have known him and to be able to call him a friend. My deepest sympathies to the Lingenfelter family.

All of us that worked in the Fuel Control overhaul shop at Northwest Airlines always looked forward to, and enjoyed very much the many visits from Ray over the years. I myself worked in that shop for about 14 years and met him many times. He was always very friendly and helpful.

Dear Lingenfelter Family, I was so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I worked at Hamilton with Ray from 1989 onward until his retirement in the customer support/technical group. He was a very special man and was always a delight to work with. He was someone who could always cheer you up with a joke or a witty remark! Though we had been out of touch for some time, I would always think of Ray and your family when I passed through Suffield and could not forget how he kept a cooler in the trunk for the "after hours" ride home. I used to kid him all the time about how close he lived to work and I think he said something then about how many he could "pop open" before he got home. What wit he had!! I had the privilege of knowing Ray from our early days in fuel control engineering. There was never a time when Ray didn't have the best interests in mind for our customers and he continually demonstrated that through his dedication, talents and time. He also carried a genuine concern for the well being of his co-workers and friends. His humor and wit were ever present. I shared his interest in antique cars and had the pleasure of helping Ray in small ways with the restoration of his convertible. So many good memories. I am the B&E rep at Delta Air Lines and had the good fortune to work with Ray when he visited. He was so knowledgeable and helpful to Delta. The shop folks always enjoyed his visits and often he was able to help resolve problems, or develop repairs which over the years have saved Delta millions of dollars. During our last visit several people asked about Ray and talked about when they first met. He will be deeply missed at Delta. May God comfort you his family, Larry & Sandy Vierling

I recall my friend Ray with much sadness but fond memories. Although we lived on opposite coasts, we maintained a long working relationship and a friendship which spanned his career at Hamilton Standard and B&E. I had the benefit of Ray's technical expertise and the pleasure of his company during his many visits. His good nature, generosity, and humor made him so very likable to everyone around him--it was always a treat to spend time with him--on the job and especially after hours. (This Bud's for you Ray). So many great memories with Ray and his family... Many great trips to see the Outlaws race and New Years Eves shooting pool in Suffield. Ray was such a great family friend.
